Carol Darlene Prouty passed away to be with Jesus on March
13th, 2026, at the age of 92. She was just short of her 93rd birthday.
She was bon on April 3, 1933, in the midst of the Great Depression
to Iva and Bernard Halverson in Dickinson, North Dakota.
Carol’s family moved from North Dakota to Pendleton, Oregon,
where her father attended welding school, then moved to Portland for employment.
She graduated form Roosevelt High School in 1951 and worked briefly as a
stenographer in a law firm before moving to Tennessee with her first husband,
Jim Williams, who served in the Air Force there. She returned to Portland and
married Wayne Prouty in 1957. She was the best of homemakers while they lived
in Portland, Donald and Milwaukie, Oregon. She and Wayne enjoyed many fun
travels during their lives before Wayne passed at age 67. They were both active
in their church and made many good friends.
She was preceded in death by her siblings; Ward Halverson,
Mavis Halverson, and Verle Halverson Mitchell. She leaves behind three children
and their spouses; Janice (Jan) Prouty married to Mark Walters, Shelly Prouty
married to Merle Rowland, and David Prouty married to Sharon Prouty; 8 grandchildren,
5 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
