Obituary

In Loving Memory

Dona Mae Scheel (Gomoll), beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by her family with the love and gratitude of those whose lives she touched so deeply.

Dona was born on June 15, 1933, in Bantry, North Dakota, right after her twin brother, Donald Rae, to Carl and Violet Gomoll (Marshall). She grew up in a loving family with two older brothers and an older sister, developing the kindness, resilience, and joyful spirit that would become the hallmark of her life.

Dona was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she found great happiness in the accomplishments, celebrations, and everyday moments shared with those she loved.

Known for her positive outlook on life, Dona had an effervescent smile that could brighten any room and a contagious laugh that brought joy to family, friends, and even strangers. She possessed a rare gift for finding good in people and situations, and her warmth, compassion, and genuine interest in others created lasting friendships throughout her life. She was deeply loved by her family and by the many friends who were blessed to know her.

While her absence leaves a profound void, Dona's family finds comfort in the faith she held throughout her life. They take solace in the belief that she has entered eternal peace and is now embraced by God's love. Her memory will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her, inspiring them to meet each day with the same grace, optimism, laughter, and love that she shared so freely.
Dona will be dearly missed and forever remembered. Her legacy lives through her family and the countless lives she has touched with her kindness. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains a guiding light, reminding us that love endures beyond this life and that one day we will be reunited again.

Survivors include: her sons, Mitch Scheel, Mark Scheel (wife Cheri Scheel); her daughter, Tami Morgan; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will always cherish her memory.

Dona married her husband, Orville Ronald Scheel, April 25, 1953.  They shared nearly 60 years of marriage until Orville’s passing on October 9, 2012.
