Edwin Arnold Vilhauer of Beaverton, Oregon, passed away at his home on August 26, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1942, in Prineville, Oregon to Theodore and Ellenore Vilhauer. He was the 5th of 8 children.
He married LaVonne DeShazer on January 23, 1965. They lived in Bend, Oregon for 15 years before relocating to Beaverton. They were married for 61 years, had two children, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was a self-made man with many skills and a variety of careers over his lifetime. When one door closed, he always opened another one. He had an amazing work ethic and ability to reinvent himself. Work truly was one of his greatest joys.
He also enjoyed fishing, tying flies, playing golf and traveling in his motor home. He particularly enjoyed the annual 4th of July family reunion/campout with his siblings and their families.
He was very generous with his time, was always willing to share his knowledge or to open his home to a family member in need of a place to stay.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Donald and Ted and his sister Shirley. He is survived by his wife LaVonne, daughters Tina and Leslie, his grandchildren Jacob and Kelsey, his six great grandchildren and his siblings Dorothy, Rick, Roberta and Kathy.
Funeral Services will be held at Sandy Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 1:00pm
