Glenda Thornberg passed away peacefully in her sleep at Avamere Memory Care at 1:30 a.m., on July 23, 2025. She was 96 years old.
Glenda was the 6th child born to James and Mable
(Collings) Poulsen on April 30, 1929, at Salt Lake City Utah. She Grew up in Garfield and Magna, Utah where she went to
school and where she met Don “Ray” Thornberg. On December 27, 1946, Glenda married her high school sweetheart
in Evanston, Wyoming. After they married, they moved to Oregon where he worked
different jobs from tunnel construction to salesman for Halton Tractor. In 1968 they moved to Welches, Oregon where they started their
own business, D. Ray Thornberg Const. with his sons. He was a heavy equipment
operator.
They met many friends while living there. They were members
of the lions club, Mt. Players Theater group and Women’s Club.
In 1980 they moved to LaPine where they lived until 2000.
They lived in Madras until 2008 when they moved back to Welches to live with their son Don and wife Jo. They traveled down to Arizona with their trailer for many
years spending their winters there.
Ray passed away on December 13, 2013. They were the happiest when they were surrounded by their
family.
Glenda is survived by her children; Don (Julrene) Thornberg; Nils (Donola) Thornberg; Mark (Gwen) Thornberg; Karen Thornberg. Eight Grandchildren; Jayson, Heather, Josh, Jacob, Derick, Celena
Thornberg; Angie and Nicki Parry. Many great Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; James and Mable Poulsen; her husband Ray Thornberg and son Bradford Thornberg.
