In Loving Memory Of

Lorn John Trickel

March 19th, 1957 - November 29th, 2025

Obituary

Lorn John “Poke” Trickel, died on November 29, 2025, in Clackamas, Oregon, following a brief illness. He was 68.

Born in Portland, Oregon, on March 19, 1957, Poke grew up in a family devoted to Little League baseball, a sport in which he excelled as a talented athlete. This childhood experience fueled a lifelong love of all sports.

After attending Madison High School, Poke initially worked in his family’s electrical business before transitioning to a career in electrical material handling, a field that was a good fit for his hands-on nature.

He also spent time in the pari-mutuel racing industry, which required him to live and work in various locations, including New Jersey, California, and Arizona. Though he enjoyed the travel, experiences, and people he met during this time, Oregon was always considered home.

In 1981, he married Lisa Totten. While they later divorced, Lisa remained the standard by which all other women were measured, and he never remarried.

Poke was a passionate skeet shooter, winning three championships, and often fondly remembered his beloved trained bird dog, Buddy.  He had a deep interest in military documentaries and movies, spending countless hours immersed in history and heroism. He also maintained an impressive collection of movie DVDs.  His love for cinema was matched only by his appreciation for good company, especially when it came to the ladies, whom he always held in high regard with his signature charm.

Those who knew Lorn will remember his unique nickname. It originated before his birth when his mother was past her due date, and relatives began referring to him as “pokey,” which was shortened to "Poke" and stuck with him throughout his life. Whether through work or friendship, he left a lasting impression wherever he went.

A private service will be held at a later date.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Providence Hospice who cared for Poke in his final days.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
