Marion S. Nelson, 75, passed away peacefully on December 23 in
her apartment at the Cascadia Village Senior Living Center in Sandy,
Oregon. Born August 27, 1950, in
Pennsylvania but lived most of her life in the Portland Metropolitan and
surrounding area. For many years she
lived with her parents on Church Road near Boring, Oregon. She was predeceased by both her parents –
Gerald Nelson in 2021 and Joyce Nelson in 2023. She is survived by aunts Shirley Cochran and Eleanor Hayes and her uncle
Terry Nelson.
Marion was a devoted daughter to her parents. She took on the household as her parents aged
making sure meals were prepared, doctor’s appointments were scheduled and
attended, and much, much more. It's comforting to know she's with them again.
Those of us who knew her well remember her lock trap mind,
never forgetting even the smallest detail. Like what did the whole extended Nelson family have for dinner at a
Chinese restaurant over 60 years ago. She was also the family historian keeping track of the extended families
– their whereabouts, activities, and health. We will miss her phone calls and
her ability to recall names and events for us.
Marion enjoyed traveling. She attended World Fairs in Spokane,
WA and Vancouver, BC and the Pendleton Roundup several times with her parents.
She visited her uncle Terry's family in Anchorage, Alaska and camped near Mt.
Denali. She took trips to Disneyland, Disney-world and traveled to Venezuela
with her cousin Josie Tilner. Her favorite jaunt was Seaside, OR for the 4th of July beach firework show. She belonged to the Rebeccas, loved her pets, and
worshiped at St. Michael's Church where she especially enjoyed helping with
community dinners.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Michaels Church in Sandy,
OR on March 21, 2026, at 11am.
