Phil Barlow Powers, 71, of Sandy, Oregon, passed away on March 29, 2026.
Phil was born on April 24, 1954, to Harold and Phyllis Powers. Born later in his parents’ lives, he grew up shaped by their guidance and experiences. He lost his father at a very young age, a moment that stayed with him throughout his life.
Phil spent his career as a Network Administrator at Lane Community College, where he was known for his knowledge, reliability, and quiet dedication to his work. He had a lifelong interest in computing and programming, and he genuinely enjoyed staying engaged with technology as it evolved over the years. He was also a fan of science fiction, always curious about what might be possible.
He found happiness in simple, everyday pleasures - sharing a good meal, enjoying conversation, and spending time at the Oregon coast. Phil loved food, and he would often say with a grin, “I love pizza - I love burgers.” He was kind and considerate, and he had a natural ability to engage deeply with anyone who spoke with him, making those interactions warm and memorable.
Phil is survived by his wife, Barbara Barlow Powers; his brother, David Powers; his sons, Matthew and Stephen; his stepsons, Louis and Matthew (predeceased); nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Phil’s life will be held later in April 2026.
Phil will be remembered for his warmth, his curiosity, his sense of humor, and the many small, meaningful moments he shared with those around him. His presence, laughter, and thoughtful engagement will be deeply missed and his memory will live on in the many lives he touched.
