Sheila Jean Craig passed away at the age of 85 on April 29th 2026. She was a beloved mother who was kind, funny, and tenacious. She was a wife, sister, grandma, great-grandma, and, above all else, a mother. Her primary superpower was her optimism, which she used to care for her family and their well-being.
Sheila was born in Los Angeles, California, where she and her two brothers were raised by her parents, Clarence & Kathleen Earl. She married Jerry Craig in 1968, 2 weeks after their first date, and they celebrated 42 anniversaries before Jerry passed away in 2010.
Sheila and Jerry moved their family to Sandy, Oregon, in 1977 to live on 4 acres, and this became their home for the majority of their lives. Sheila worked hard as a homemaker, as a clerk at various businesses, and from time to time picked strawberries with her kids to earn a little extra. She always made the most with what she had. She also enjoyed vacations to Hawaii and hosting friends and family at her home in the summer.
Rural living required a lot of work, and Sheila learned many skills after moving to Sandy. Skills like gardening, pottery, and canning, along with the chores that never seemed to let up. She managed a house and a blended family of 5 kids, multiple dogs, a few horses, goats, and rabbits, with only a wood stove for heat. She had been known to open the oven door on cold mornings to take the chill off the kitchen. When the chores were complete, she enjoyed country walks, barbecues, and most of all spending time with her family. She invited her parents to move onto the property in their later years, and she also provided a safe and welcoming home for her grandchildren when they needed it most. She performed “mom duty” for multiple generations.
Sheila set an example for her family with her constant humor and optimism. She was there for everyone and every activity. She was the primary person who got our family to their activities, like soccer, 4-H, chess club, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, choir, band, theatre, and a host of other childhood activities. She dedicated her life to supporting her family, and she would always send the absolutely perfect gift for birthdays and Christmas.
Sheila is survived by her brother, Dennis Earl; her children, Lisa Weber, Sherri Craig, Jill Shafer, and Jim Craig; her grandchildren, Dale Partridge, Matthew Partridge, Jacob Church, Nicole Peck, Justin Weber, Tyler Weber, Kylee Weber, Amanda Morgan, Gregory Cameron, Erica Craig, Brandi Craig, Emma Craig, and Henry Craig; and her 14 great-grandchildren.
Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Craig; her son, Eric Craig; her daughter, Holly Partridge; and her brother, Steve Earl.
A graveside service will be held at the Sandy Ridge Cemetery, 34260 OR-211, Boring, OR 97009, on May 17th. Please arrive with enough time to be ready for Father Gregg to bless the gravesite at 1:30 pm.
Sheila will be missed greatly. She was warm, resilient, and endlessly optimistic. We will remember her whenever we see a blooming garden, feel the warmth of a kitchen oven, or share a laugh in the face of a challenge. She taught us that love isn't just a feeling, but something you show up for every single day.
