Sandy resident, Adelia M. Hassett went home to her Maker and Savior on Sunday, September 25, 2011, at Marquis Care at Centennial in Gresham. She was 85.
A Memorial Service will be held at Dover Community Church, 42180 SE Kitzmiller Road in Sandy on Sunday, October 2nd at 6:00 p.m.
Adelia Mae was born on October 29, 1925, in Saline, Michigan to Harvey and Lucille (Robison) Ellis. She moved to Brookings, Oregon, with her family in 1942 and spent most of the rest of her life in Oregon.
On May 20, 1945 Adelia was united in marriage to George Raymond Hassett at the First Baptist Church in Brookings, after a five-month courtship. They made their home in Brookings where they raised their four sons and one daughter. Adelia and George dedicated their lives to the Lord Jesus on January 1, 1957, and served Him faithfully throughout their lives. Besides fulfilling her duties as a wife and mother, Adelia worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Multnomah School of The Bible. In 1996, Adelia and George moved to Sandy to live near their family and make their permanent home.
Adelia was a member of Dover Community Church. She enjoyed fishing, knitting, doing puzzles, loved cats and was a competitive board game player.
Adelia is survived by her husband of 66 years, George, of Sandy; daughter Nancy and husband Denis Thiessen of Sandy; sons Ronald and wife Sharon of Albuquerque, N.M., Dan and wife Amy of Crocker, Mo., Glenn and wife Rosalie of Tillamook, and Wayne and wife Dawn of Wallowa; 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Eleanor Vaughn, and a brother, Willard “Bill” Ellis.
