Sandy resident Albert M. Gagnon passed away Sunday December 27th. He was 75.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday January 4th 2015 at Sandy Funeral Home. Committal with military honors will follow at Willamette National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
Al was born May 22, 1940 to Annette M. (Pelletier) and Albert S. Gagnon in Fort Kent, Maine. When he was young his family moved to Connecticut where he was raised and received his education. After graduation from high school Al joined the Navy. He served honorably for 26 years in various locations around the country. He was married to Madelaine “Del” Connery in Muthen, Massachusetts in 1991. After retiring from the Navy Al went to work as an auto mechanic and in 1996 he and Del moved to Sandy.
One of Al’s passions was volunteering at the Sandy Historical Society. He also volunteered with the Clackamas Diversion Program for troubled kids, he enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, picking huckleberries, and hunting. He was a member of the Sandy VFW Post 4273.
Survivors include, his wife Del of Sandy; daughter Delora (Matt) of Tillamook; three grandsons, Noah, Simon and Joshua as well as many extended Hawaiian family members and friends.
The family suggests contributions be made in Al’s name to the Sandy Historical Society.
