A graveside service with honors will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on Friday November 30, 2012 at 10:30AM.
Alan Stephen Lajimodiere was born September 29, 1947 in Belcourt, North Dakota to Leo Joseph and Lola (Plante) Lajimodiere . When he was a young child the family moved to Portland where he was raised and received his schooling. In 1964 he joined the Marines and served honorably during the Vietnam War.
Upon his return from the war Alan worked for an ambulance company for a time until hiring on as a union carpenter; a job he held for 18 years. Unfortunately he was injured while at work and unable to return after his recovery. He then attended Chemeketa Community College and, after acquiring some new skills, was employed as a construction inspector for the City of Gresham. He retired from his position as Chief Inspector, after 22 years, in November 2009.
Alan enjoyed and appreciated classic cars. He also loved studying history both by reading books and watching the History Channel. He was a life member and past Commander of the Sandy VFW Post #4273.
Survivors include his wife, Leora; daughter, Michelle Lajimodiere and son, Ben Lajimodiere both of Medford; step-daughter, Karen Riley of Beavercreek; step-son, Greg Ogilvie of Eagle Creek; sisters, Denise Lajimodiere of ND and Leola Lajimodiere of FL and 10 grandchildren.
The family suggests contributions be made in Alan’s name to Team Rubicon Region 10.
