Eagle Creek resident Arnold Huggins, died at Portland VA Hospital on March 6, 2011. He was 87.
A private funeral will be held at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, March 17, at Sandy Funeral Home. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Arnold Ray Huggins was born on December 10, 1923 at Eagle Creek, Oregon to John William and Georgia (Walker) Huggins. He was raised at Eagle Creek where he received his schooling. In 1943, he entered the US Army to serve in WWII. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Oregon where he began his career in the logging & trucking industry.
On July 26, 1958, he married Martha Jane Block. They lived in Gladstone for a time prior to moving to Eagle Creek where they raised their family. His wife preceded him in death in 2009.
Arnold worked for Parks Lumber, which became Crown Zellerback and retired from James River Corporation.
He enjoyed the outdoor activities of hunting, fishing, camping and 4-wheeling. He was a member of the Eagle Creek Presbyterian Church and Sandy VFW Post #4273.
Survivors include, daughters, Molly Emery of Portland, Chloe Huggins of Eagle Creek, Carolyn McGahan of West Linn, Janet Wilson of Beaverton; step-daughter, Melody Cazares of Vancouver WA; sister, Ethel Wood of Medford; 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
