Sandy resident Barbara Deatherage, 67, died at her brother’s home in Gresham on November 7, 2011.
At her request no service will be held.
Barbara was born in Los Angeles, California to Coy S. and Vivian E. (Matson) Deatherage on August 8, 1944. When she was 8 years old the family moved to Oregon. Barbara attended Gresham High School graduating in 1962. After completing her schooling she was employed by Moller’s nursery as a secretary where she worked for many years. She worked at Sandy Home Care for the last 5 years until her retirement.
Barbara loved to travel with her friends. One memorable trip was with her friend Joyce to several countries around the Mediterranean. Their strong Christian faith took them to Israel experiencing the biblical landmarks and culture first hand. She experienced the wilderness of Alaska with her friend Lisette delighting in the majesty of the state and finding a love for halibut. Barbara was also very gifted at crocheting and loved walking, spending many hours doing both with her friend Donna. She loved family gatherings, particularly spending time with her niece Kelley.
Survivors include her brother Robert (Diane) Deatherage and niece Kelley.
The family requests that contributions be made to Mt. Hood Hospice and would like to thank them for their outstanding level of care for Barbara.
