Welches resident, Barry C. Seitz died March 7, 2017 at his home. He was 72. Barry Curtis Seitz was born on December 28th, 1944 in Portland, Oregon, to Wilma (Johnson) and Daniel Seitz. He was the second oldest of four siblings. He graduated from Grant High School in 1963.
After graduation he enlisted in the United Sates Marine Corps. When he finished training, Barry served two tours in Vietnam as an M-60 machine gunner in Quan Tri and Danang near the DMZ. He retired after serving over 21 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and the Marine Corps combined. When he retired from the military, Barry stayed with his brothers in arms as a lifetime member of the VFW. Barry went on to work for the Oregon Humane Society; from there he was hired on to the newly formed Multnomah County Animal Control, where he remained until retirement.
Barry had a custom home built in Welches in 1975 and resided there with the love of his life Duekjo Kim, whom he wed on June 23, 1993. They enjoyed 26 wonderful years of Marriage together.
Barry had a variety of hobbies including sturgeon fishing, hunting and shooting. He liked to work in the wood shop and played the violin. He also enjoyed hanging out with the locals and tossing a few back.
He is survived by his wife Deukjo Seitz of Welches, Oregon; son Frank Seitz of Welches, Oregon; daughter Corinne Seitz and son-in-law Douglas Frasier of Sandy, Oregon; grandsons, Curtis Lawson, Drake Lawson, Andrew Finnerty and Shawn Frasier; granddaughter-in law, Eugenia Lawson; brother, Garth Seitz and sisters, Karen Fields and Vikki Cleckner.
