Berneita Snyder died on October 19th, 2012 at Pacifica Encore Senior Village in Portland, Oregon.
A memorial service will be held at 11AM, Saturday, November 3rd at Ascension Lutheran Church in Portland.
Berneita Irene Nienke was born on April 10th, 1934 in Ellsworth, Kansas to Rudolph and Hulda (Haase) Nienke. After growing up in Ellsworth and graduating from Ellsworth High School, Berneita attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina, Kansas where she earned her Associate’s Degree.
On January 16th, 1955 she married Laurence Ralph Snyder in Ellsworth, Kansas. Together they owned Larry’s One Hour Martinizing for 30 years until moving to Gresham in September of 1974 where Berneita worked at Multnomah Education Service District (MESD) as an accountant and reception clerk until she retired.
She loved crocheting, gardening, baking, sewing, and going to the beach. She also enjoyed being a braille worker at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Gresham where she helped produce bibles for the blind. Her favorite way to spend her time was with her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Berneita is survived by her daughters Charleen Treanor of Sandy and Kathleen Davis of Gig Harbor, WA, her son L. Craig of Maple Valley, WA, her sisters Betty of Loveland, CO, Doris of Milaca, MN, Edith of Salina, KS, Hulda of Ellsworth, KS, Velma of Gypsum, KS and Lois of Salina, KS, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild due in May. She was preceded in death by her brother Leonard.
