Longtime Boring resident Bessie Hendricks died Thursday, June 13. She was 89.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 30th at Hood View Seventh-day Adventist Church in Boring.
Bessie (Beanie) was born in Hartshorn, Oklahoma to Cestes and Charles New, but was raised by her grandmother, Esther Simmons. After completing school, she worked as a nurse in Pueblo, Colorado, where she met her late husband, Leo. They moved from Hillside, Colorado to Boring, Oregon, where together they raised their children.
Bessie loved to spend time with her family, crotchet, laugh, play cards, and be a jokester. She is known for making the best pot of beans ever.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, and her son Jamie.
Survivors include her son Terry of Boring; her daughter Gaylen of Vancouver; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
