Sandy resident, Bette Herzog died on Sunday, June 28, 2009. She was 86. A “Celebration of Life” will be held at her home at a later date.
She was born, Bette Maxine Lucas on May 1, 1923 in Roseburg, Oregon to Gaylord and Marian Lucas. Throughout her life, Bette lived in several cities within Oregon. She settled in Sandy in 1974 and purchased TJ’s Fireside Dining and Lounge. One year later, on November 27, 1975, she was united in marriage to Bill Herzog. They made their home in Sandy and ran the restaurant together for 16 years.
After retiring, Bette enjoyed traveling in the Southwestern states during the winter months and spending the summers at their home in Sandy. She also enjoyed interior decorating, reading and her many pets. Bette will be missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her husband Bill; her son Kerry Webster of Damascus; daughter Connie Wolf of Crooked River; her stepchildren Kurt Herzog of Brookings; Whitney Herzog of North Bend ; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded by her sister Frances Scott, brother George Lucas, and her grandson Troy Chamness.
