Former Boring resident Elizabeth “Bettie” Chinn-Schreiber, 78, passed away in Bandon, OR October 23, 2013 due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
A graveside service will be held at Cliffside Cemetery in Sandy, OR Monday, November 4th 2013 at 1PM.
She was born Elizabeth Dorland January 31, 1935 in Bandon, OR to Pauline (Magee) and Lawrence Dorland. She was raised there and received her schooling. After graduating from high school she continued her education at Providence Hospital Nursing School in Portland.
Bettie married Tom Chinn October 13, 1956 in Coquille, OR. They moved to Los Angeles and began their family. She devoted herself to raising their first two children as well as working as an RN at the French Hospital. Shortly after the birth of their third child the family moved back to Oregon, settling in Boring where they made their permanent home. Bettie was employed at the St. Jude’s Nursing Home in Sandy and remained a fixture there until her retirement.
Tom passed away after a long battle with cancer January 13, 1995. After some time Bettie met and married Fred Schreiber. Fred died January 19, 2005. Bettie retired to Coquille, in her later years to live with her brother Larry.
Bettie enjoyed working in her yard and garden and she had a special place in her heart for animals. She was a devout Christian and was a consistent, dependable servant at her church; Gresham Nazarene which later became Springwater Church of the Nazarene.
Bettie is survived by her sons, David Chinn and Dan Chinn DeChynne; daughter Donna Wright, and 5 grandchildren, Emily Lund, Jesse Christian, Davey DeChynne, Jacob DeChynne and Isaiah DeChynne.
