Portland resident, Beverly “Babe” Olsen died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, May 19, 2010. She was 78.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11: 30 a.m. at the Holgate Baptist Church in Portland. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park.
She was born, Beverly Ann Turner on November 24, 1931 to Homer and Blanche (Edwards) Turner in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. She began her elementary education in Idaho and at the age of 12, the family moved to Oregon. They made their home in Portland finished her education and graduated from Franklin High School. Babe then began working at a Soda Fountain at Mt. Scott Pharmacy where she met her future husband.
Babe was united in marriage to Elmer “Jess” Olsen in 1951 in Portland. They made their home in Portland where they raised their 2 sons. Besides fulfilling her duties as a wife and mother, she worked as a house keeper.
She had a great love for animals and would rescue and care for any animal in need. Babe was an active member of the Hollgate Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed gardening, shopping at thrift stores, reading and taking care of her home and family. Babe loved the color red which went along with her “spunky” personality.
Surviving are her sons, Stan Olsen of Portland and Jason Olsen of Gresham; 1 granddaughter Riley.
