In Loving Memory Of

Billy Oscar Kitchens

October 31st, 1937 - October 25th, 2012

Obituary

Longtime Corbett resident Billy Kitchens died suddenly on Thursday October 25, 2012. He was 74.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Home on Tuesday October 30, 2012 at 3PM.

Billy Oscar Kitchens was born October 31, 1937 in Epps, Louisiana to Oscar Pink and Bessie (Parrish) Kitchens. He was raised in Epps and graduated from high school there in 1958.

He met his wife Elsie May Crouch in Maryland while serving in the Army. They married November 1, 1958 in Rock Hall, Maryland. They made their home in Epps, LA.

They moved to Oregon in 1973 where they raised their 4 children eventually settling in Corbett as their permanent home. Billy provided for his family by working as a long haul truck driver. He began at the age of 17 and finally retired from the driver’s seat in 2002.

Billy and his family made many fond memories spending time in the woods where Billy loved to hunt. His passions also included spending time with friends and family, taking care of his animals, his garden, and keeping his fences mended and straight.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years Elsie; sons, Ronnie of Sandy, Billy of St. Helen; daughters, Karen Kitchens and Sheena Barnes both of Sandy; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 8 brothers and sisters, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

He was loved and will be missed by many whose lives he touched with his exceptional love and generosity.

Billy’s family suggests contributions be made in his name to the Corbett Grange.

My condolences to Elsie, Billy, Ronnie, Karen and Sheena and their children; I know the loss of your husband and father is difficult and hope that you can give each other support during this time of grief.

To fond remembrances of our time on the farm; feeding the animals; especially the calves and collecting eggs even with the gooses chasing us; Bill stood tall and took care of his family.

May the memories you carry forward keep the sadness away!
Love, Raye, Jessica and Alexis
