Long time Sandy resident, Bob Ray Stotts, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by loving family on May 28, 2020. He was 86. Bob was born on March 15, 1934 in Mulberry, Kansas to Archie and Hazel (Cusic) Stotts.
The family moved to Kennewick, Washington during Bob’s formative years and he received his elementary and high school education there. When Bob was 16, the family moved to Sandy where they purchased a berry farm. Besides working on the farm, Bob furthered his education at Clackamas Community College and received his Associates Degree.
On July 14, 1956, Bob married the love of his life, Bernice Caba, at Sandy Baptist Chapel. Not long after, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for two years in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1960.
Bob worked at Nalley’s Packing Plant and Wagner Mining. He later owned and operated Stotts Furnace.
Bob loved his community and always wanted to give back what he could. He volunteered his maintenance services to the Sandy Assembly of God Church for 15 years and also served as a youth leader for 10 years. In his spare time, Bob loved to go fishing at the beach, traveling, playing board games with his family and whenever he could get away with it, cheating at Dominoes. Bob and Bernice’s family was of utmost importance to them, always making time to be together.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Bernice Stotts; his sons, Don and Debbie Stotts of Longbeach, Washington, Ken and Waynette Stotts of Boring; grandchildren, Alyssa and Anthony of Longbeach, Washington, Kimberly Stotts of Warrenton, Forrest Stotts of Portland and Alexandra and Cody Anderson of Sandy, along with two great-grandchildren.
Contributions can be made in Bob’s memory to Sandy Assembly of God Church. The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Mt. Hood Hospice for providing loving care and compassion.
A private burial was held at Willamette National Cemetery.
