Bonnie Nasshahn was born on August 27th, 1931 in Whiting, Kansas. She was the 3rd of 8 children born to Chester Wilbur and Mary Pauline (Graham) Stead. The Stead family moved to Hubbard, Oregon when she was 8 years old and they settled in SE Portland in 1941. She graduated from Gresham High School, along with her future husband Wilford “Bud” Arthur Nasshahn, who walked with her at graduation. They were married on September 7th, 1957 at Lynch Baptist Church of Portland, Oregon. She was breathtaking in a waltz-length gown of Chantilly lace with a finger-tip veil while carrying bouvardia and white rosebuds on a white Bible.
She loved gardening, camping, tole painting, candy making, and baking. Her peanut blossom cookies, apple pie, and burnt sugar cupcakes will live on in the fond memories of all who were fortunate enough to try them. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother, loyal sister, and ideal grandmother. Her life was spent devoted to her family. Every family gathering she made sure to have an extensive supply of every person’s favorite desserts.
Gardening and tole painting were her favorite hobbies. She had the most beautiful garden you could imagine and many surfaces in her home had been enhanced by her tole painting. Her presence was a benefit to every campfire; she had the best jokes and treats for everybody there.
She died April 27th, 2020 at 88 years of age.
