Obituary

Sandy resident Dr. Boyd L. Crane, 82, passed away at home Saturday Feb. 1st, 2014 with his family at his side.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Sandy Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Viewing begins at 12 noon. Burial will take place at Mink Creek Cemetery in Mink Creek, Idaho on Monday, February 10 at 10AM.

Boyd Lucius Crane was born February 26, 1931 in Mink Creek, Idaho to Louise (Morgan) and Lucius Crane. He was raised in Mink Creek and Preston, Idaho, graduating from Preston High School in 1949. Boyd attended Brigham Young University for two years out of high school and then went on a mission for his church from 1951-1954. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956, was an inactive reservist for 6 years after, and then began the pre-dental program at Portland State University. Boyd graduated from the University of Oregon School of Dentistry in 1962 and enjoyed a long successful career of 36 years before retiring in 1998.

In 1954 Boyd wed Lillias Ann Tanner in Salt Lake City and they began their family. Through the years the family lived in Portland, Sandy and Joseph. Boyd maintained his dental practices in Portland and Sandy. Lillias passed away unexpectedly in 1997. Boyd married Jeri Richardson April 2, 1998.

Boyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in several positions of leadership over the years.

Survivors include his wife Jeri; children, Bret Crane (Cindy) of Woodinville, WA, Jean Sharp of Sandy, Doug Crane of Scottsdale, AZ, Michelle Moulton (Eric) of West Jordan, UT, Michael Richardson of Sandy, Rick Richardson (Linda) of LaPine, Perry Richardson (Robin) of Sandy, Tracee Hendricks (Dave) of Oregon City, Dana Richardson of Sandy, Mitch Richardson (Carly) of Estacada; 29 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Lillias and his sisters, Merle Belnap and Vauna Rasmussen.

The family suggests contributions be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Missionary Fund.
