Bruce Raymond Bicknell was born on May 28, 1942 to Raymond and Frances (Kritz) Bicknell in Redding, California. As a young boy, the family moved to Portland where Bruce was raised and received his elementary and high school education. Shortly after graduating from Benson High School he entered the U.S. Army Reserve. He was honorably discharged as Master Sergeant in 1972. Bruce then returned to Portland and began working at Fred Meyer.

On June 27, 1975 he was united in marriage to Judith Yeager in Vancouver, Washington. In 1974 Bruce began working at United Grocers as a Project Manager and later as a Corporate Engineer until retiring in 2005. Bruce and Judy moved to Boring in 2007.

Bruce loved spending time outdoors working in his yard and was an avid boater. He was a member of the Columbia River Yacht Club and was Commodore of the Trailer Sailors, and Vice-Commodore of the Dolphin Yacht Club. He had a heart for animals, even rescuing animals. He was creative and spent time doing various types of construction including sheds and garages. He also enjoyed “playing” with his electric trains. He attended Orient Drive Baptist Church and was recently baptized.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Oregon Humane Society at P.O. Box 11364 Portland, Oregon or St. Jude Children’s Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
