Longtime Brightwood resident, Royce “Buster” Annis died at his home on Tuesday, November 19, 2012. He was 84.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the Brightwood Tavern on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
Royce Franklin Annis was born on March 24, 1928 in Nashville, Tennessee to Royce and Ruby (Taylor) Annis. In 1942, the family moved to Oregon and made their home in Sandy where he was raised and received his schooling.
In March of 1949, Buster was united in marriage to Ethel Cain. They made their home in Sandy and in 1951, he entered the U.S. Air Force and they moved to Travis Air Force Base in California. It was in 1956, they returned to Oregon and bought a home in Brightwood where they made their permanent home and raised their children.
Buster and two of his brother in laws started their own logging company, BSA and cleared land on the mountain. After logging for many years, Buster started his career with Oregon State Highway Department where he was employed until retiring in 1986.
Buster was a hard- working man all of his life and enjoyed spending time with his friends on the mountain.
Surviving is his daughter Jenny Shibley of Birghtwood; 2 grandsons and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Ethel, his son Steven, his parents, 4 sisters and 1 brother.
