Longtime Sandy resident, C.W. Wilson died at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center on Saturday, March 27, 2010. He was 79.
A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Home on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. A private burial will follow at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
C.W. Wilson Jr. was born on January 23, 1931 in Houston, Florida to Luther and Bonnie (Blue) Wilson. He was raised in Suwanee County, Florida where he received his schooling and worked on the family farm.
On December 12, 1950, he entered the U.S. Navy. After serving his country for 4 years, he was honorably discharged on September 23, 1954. C.W. then came to Oregon looking for work and made his way to Mount Hood. He lived at Timberline Lodge as well as worked as the Head Engineer where he met and fell in love with his future wife, Janet “Chris” Kligel.
C.W. and Chris were united in marriage on August 26, 1956. They made their home at Timberline Lodge and C.W. continued his employment. One year later, they moved to Florida where they began their family and C.W. worked in construction as a Lather. In 1959, C.W. his wife and infant daughter returned to Oregon and bought a farm in Sandy. C.W. then pursued his construction career. After retiring in 1985, he began farming in earnest on their property in Sandy which he did until 2008 when his health began to decline.
C.W. is greatly missed by his family and friends and remembered as an honest, dependable, and loving man. He was a jack of all trades and willing to lend a hand when someone was in need. He helped in the construction of his Church, Living Word Fellowship in Boring, and also had a great love for God, desiring to serve Him. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, telling jokes, fishing and camping.
Surviving is his wife Chris of 54 years; his children, Julie Al-Alawi of Oman, Dan Wilson of Happy Valley, Susan Wilson of Troutdale, Jim Wilson of Boring, and Amy Oglesby of Hawaii (from previous marriage); 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; his sisters, Betty Jean Lilly, Jackie Levy, and Myrtle Wilson all of Georgia and Dixie Auvil of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his sister Willene Brown.
