Carl Eugene Faught was born in Nampa, Idaho to Earl and Madeline Faught on September 24, 1942. He grew up in Boise where he graduated from Boise High School class of 1962. After high school, Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army where he spent his basic training in Fort Ord, California. He was never called to duty, however, joined the Army Reserve as a tank driver for several years. Shortly after his military career he started a new one in radiology where he accepted a position at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. After applying for and accepting a position at Physicians and Surgeons Hospital in Portland, Oregon, he was promoted to Chief X-Ray Technologist in the mid-1960s.
Carl had always been intrigued by police work and followed it for many years as he took night classes in Criminology. From 1969 to 1972, he worked as a reserve officer for Multnomah Co. Sherriff’s Dept. In 1973 he completed his Basic Police Academy Training and joined the Clackamas Co. Sherriff’s Dept. as a reserve motorcycle officer. In 1981, Carl was hired at the City of Sandy Police Dept. as a patrol officer where he later retired after 21 years in 2002.
Carl was known to his colleagues as a person who not only protected and served the public, but served the police agency as well, repairing equipment and maintaining the property room. He spent his spare time contributing community service to local schools and senior centers with his K-9 partners Moose and Czar.
