She was born January 22, 1938 and was raised in Portland, Oregon by her parents Linus and Sylvia McMahon. Through her school years she attended Catholic schools in Portland and Mt Angel, Oregon. At the age of 20, Carole met her husband Jack at Fleet Week in downtown Portland; he was on shore leave from one of the Navy ships. They started a family and eventually moved to Sandy. During their retired years they lived in Big Pine Key and Springhill, Florida. The last few years of their life they resided with daughter Julie in a quaint home on her property in Rhododendron. Jack passed away in 2015.
Carole was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She worked as a cook in many area restaurants when she was not home raising her four children. She also loved shopping whether it was in-store or on QVC.
She is survived by her son, Michael Graybeal of Portland; daughters Elizabeth Wooten of Wallowa and Julie Cooke of Rhododendron; granddaughters Candice Kelly of Portland, Amanda Hagen of LaGrande, Jackie Brennan of Elgin and Kirk Thompson of Kassel, Germany; as well as her seven great grandchildren.
