Charles David Washburn died Tuesday, April 7th at his home in Gresham. He was 66. A Graveside service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on April 15, 2009 at 12:00 p.m.
Charles was born September 9, 1942 in Merkel, Texas to Oddis Harvey and Irene (Keener) Washburn. The family settled in Portland when Charles was a child. He graduated from David Douglas high school in 1960. Soon after graduation he joined the U. S. Army where he proudly served his country for 22 years including four tours in Viet Nam. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star.
Charles enjoyed doing maintenance work and gardening. He especially treasured family get-togethers and will be greatly missed.
He was the manager of the Sleepy Hollow Apartments at the time of his death.
Charles is survived by his sisters, Jane Wynter of Troutdale and Ann Dille of Deer Trail, Colorado; brothers, Harvey and James Washburn both of Portland, and many nieces and nephews.
