Charles William Peterson went to be with his beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday April 16, 2014. He was 83. At the age of 7, Charles accepted the Lord into his life.
A memorial service will be held at Pleasant Home Community Church on Monday April 21 at 2:00 p.m. Private burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
Chuck was born February 15, 1931 in Ogdensburg, Wisconsin to Ruth Eileen (Moore) and Charles W. Peterson. The family moved west in 1939 and lived in several places as Chuck grew up. Chuck graduated from Richmond Union High School in 1949 and then furthered his education at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland graduating in 1952. After entering Portland State University, he met his future wife, Doris F. Imler. They were united in marriage on August 15, 1954.
Soon afterwards, Chuck entered the United States Army where he served for 18 months. After his honorable discharge, he resumed his college studies and graduated in December of 1958. It was then that he began his 34 year teaching career, finally retiring in June of 1993. He and Doris moved to Crooked River Ranch and lived there for 13 years and then in August of 2005 they moved to Gresham Manor Retirement Home.
Chuck loved teaching for the Lord, reading, music and golfing.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Doris; daughters, Cheryl Rehley and husband John and Tamara Cissna; sons, Gary Peterson and wife Jenifer and Randy Peterson; his sister, Lylah Rosenbalm; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
