Longtime Sandy resident, Charlotte Adaline Jones passed away peacefully surrounded by family in the home she shared with her daughter Earline Peck in Sandy Oregon on December 11, 2019.
Charlotte will be buried alongside her husband Marion Earl Jones Jr. who proceeded her in death in 1996.
Charlotte’s service will be held at the Sandy Seventh day Adventist Church 18575 SE Langensand Road in Sandy on Friday the 20th day of December, with viewing at the church at 10:00am and the service at 11:00am.
There will be a short graveside service where Charlotte will be laid to rest next to her husband for anyone that would like join the family at Cliffside Cemetery. There will also be a reception to follow back at the Church.
Charlotte was born on November 19, 1929 in Ute Iowa to Parent’s Minne Salina Maples and Fredrick Lee Miler. Charlotte was the 8th of 10 children.
When Charlotte was young, the family moved to Missouri where she attended school, and growing up she enjoyed playing outside and climbing trees with the boys. Charlotte always told her children she was a tomboy growing up.
Charlotte’s life was not easy growing up in the depression, but she was strong and was very devout in her faith in the Lord.
Charlotte eventfully met and married her first husband Eugene William Smith and had 2 children Robert Lee Smith and Patricia Ann Clark.
The family lived in White Salmon Washington where Charlotte’s husband Eugene was a logger. Gene had an unfortunate accident and did not survive. Charlotte was left to raise 2 small children by herself.
Charlotte moved to Sandy Oregon where she met husband Marion Earl Jones Jr. They were married and had 6 children and also had 2 children that did not survive child birth.
Surviving are her children; LeMoyne Elwin Jones, Jerry Joseph Jones, Earline Jo Peck, Paul Edgar Jones, Mary Ellen Hatala, and Thomas Duane Jones.
Charlotte worked many jobs, the most important one was taking care of her children. While also working as a CNA, caregiver, and picking berries, and Finally a housekeeper for Portland Adventist Hospital from where she retired after 15 years.
Charlotte was a dedicated seventh Day Adventist and loved to spread the word of God to whomever she met. She was always handy around the house if something broke she would try to fix it herself.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her mother Minne, Father Fred and brother’s Clarence Miler, Fred Miler, Ellis Miler and Lloyd Miler sisters Violet Drake, and Pearl Mabe.
Surviving sisters Ruby Garnet Stevenson, Lavern Geneva McCormick, and surviving Children Robert Smith, Patricia Clark, LeMoyne Jones, Jerry Jones, Earline Peck, Paul Jones, Mary Hatala and Thomas Jones.
Daughter’s in-Law Nancy Smith, Julie Jones, Glenda Jones, Michelle Jones
Son in-laws Wayne Clark that proceeded her in death, Frank Allen and John Hatala
Grand children Richard Smith, Manuela Smith, Eugene Smith, Clifford Clark, Kimberly Clark, Brian Clark, Rachel Pauli, Amanda Priest, John Paul Jones, Jeffery Jones and Aubrey Wyman, Jennifer Jones, Charles Peck, Theresa Vulgas, Matthew Peck, Samuel Allen, John Robert Allen, Julia Krause, Jacob Carney, Rebecca Carney, Eric Carney, Christopher Gallagher and Andrew Gallagher.
Charlotte also had many, many, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
An abundance of church friends and extended family.
In lieu of flowers Charlotte has requested donations be directed to Hood View JR Academy for tuition assistance.
Charlotte was passionate about children getting a Christian education.
