November 16th, 1916 - December 16th, 2010

Obituary

Charlotte Edmonson Wright passed away at her home in Clackamas on December 16, 2010. She was 94.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday December 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Sandy.

Charlotte was born in Winchester, KY to Thomas and Fances Sudduth on November 11, 1916. When Charlotte was 7 months old, her mother died and subsequently Charlotte was sent to be raised by her uncle Bert and Aunt Carrie Clark in Winchester, IL.

In 1933 she married Robert (Bob) S. Wright and in 1935 their first daughter Carol Frances was born. Bob took a job working with the U.S. Government and the family moved to Spokane, WA. Here they had two more daughters, Charlotte Anne and Roberta Jean. They lived in Spokane for 12 years and then Bob went to work for Nalley’s Fine Foods and they were transferred to Bend, OR. Bob was transferred several more times before retiring in Portland, OR. He and Charlotte settled in King City where they enjoyed an active social life playing golf and bridge. Charlotte also served on the King City Civic Board. She was a lifelong Christian and active member at Calvin Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deaconess and sang in the choir.

Charlotte was very devoted to family and especially had many fun times with all of her grandchildren, taking them to the zoo, the Portland Rose Parade, the ship fleets, OMSI, the Christmas trains and most especially the candy store.

She moved to Miramont Pointe in 2007 where she continued her active and fun social life, playing bridge and singing in the choir.

Charlotte is survived by her sister Dr. Martha C. Sudduth of Winchester, KY; daughters Carol (Bill) Jones, Charlotte (Dale) Griffin, and Roberta (Glenn) Martin; 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; brother, Thomas G. Sudduth and grandson David D. Griffin.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Community Presbyterian Church in Sandy or Providence Hospice.
