Longtime Sandy resident, Charlotte Wunische passed away at her home that she had resided in since the age of 18 on Monday, April 17, 2017. She was 86.
She was born, Charlotte Jane Stevenson on September 17, 1930 in Forest Grove, Oregon to Hamilton “Dutch” and Alice M. (Lloyd) Stevenson. As a young child, the family moved to the Marmot area and later to Brightwood where the family homesteaded.
Charlotte was united in marriage to Wally Wunische in Vancouver, Washington. They made their permanent home and raised their family in Sandy. Besides fulfilling her responsibilities as a wife and mother, she worked at T.J.’ and at Opal’s Café as a cook. She also worked at Carlson Chevrolet part time doing dealer trades, and worked as a house cleaner for Gene Roddenberry. Charlotte and her husband Wally foster parented many children for over 20 years and adopted 4 boys, Billy, Corey, Travis and Joe.
Charlotte loved to travel, doing cross word puzzles, working in her flower garden, watching movies, listening to music and taking long drives and seeing beautiful water falls. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and the small babies. She was a member of the Sandy V.F. W. Post #4273 Ladies Auxiliary.
In 1992, her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Dan, Paul, Dave, Mark, John, Tim and Janet; 4 brothers, 5 sisters, 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren.
A Private burial was at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
