In Loving Memory Of

Cheryl Ann Meyer

January 18th, 1946 - July 3rd, 2023

Obituary

Cheryl Ann Meyer, 77, of Boring, Oregon passed away unexpectedly into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on July 3, 2023, with her family by her side. Cheryl was born to Wilbur and Maxine Cox on January 18, 1946, in Salem, Oregon. She grew up in the Portland area and attended Marshall High School, graduating in 1964. She also attended Oregon State University and Warner Pacific College but was just shy of receiving her bachelor’s degree.

Cheryl married Arden Meyer, on December 20, 2014, with many friends and family by their side. The celebration of their marriage for both families was joyful because Cheryl and Arden found true love again in each other later in life, after the passing of their first spouses. They loved each other so much, and had fun traveling together, meeting with friends and enjoying their vacation home in Redmond, Oregon. There was never a day that went by in which they did not express their love for each other. Both Arden and Cheryl considered their love and marriage a gift from God. They were married for almost 9 years until Cheryl’s passing.

Cheryl married Rod Briece on November 25, 1967, in Portland, Oregon. Just days after getting married, Rod and Cheryl drove to Pensacola, FL so that Rod could attend Officer Candidate School. Commander Rod Briece retired from the United States Navy honorably. He also enjoyed his career teaching political science and business at Mt. Hood Community College for 27 years. Cheryl enjoyed being a homemaker in which she was the support and center of Rod’s life. They had twin daughters together, Anne Dewing (Doug) and Janel Rieder (Randy). Rod preceded Cheryl in death on January 8, 2012. They were married 44 years. Their marriage was also beautiful and loving.

Cheryl involved herself in many church activities at Good Shepherd Community Church. She was an active member of Good Shepherd since 1994 and developed lifelong friendships there. Another one of her passions was volunteering at the Gresham Pregnancy Resource Center, which is now called First Image. She volunteered there for 20 years! Cheryl was passionate about helping young ladies move from a crisis point of an unplanned pregnancy to embracing their new baby and new life. While doing this for many years she set an example in her community on what it means to be helpful, be involved, be a friend and follow Jesus with her whole heart.

Cheryl loved her family deeply, and was a wife, mom, grammie and great grammie, who was always there for the ones she loved. When she married Arden, her family expanded greatly, and she so enjoyed loving each one of them as well.
Cheryl is survived by her husband Arden; her two daughters Anne Dewing (Doug) and Janel Rieder (Randy); five grandchildren, Isabelle Wittwer (Jeremiah), Hannah Dewing, Benjamin Nagel, Jonathan Dewing and Norah Dewing; three great-grandchildren Gideon, Mercy and Abel Wittwer. She is also survived by Arden’s children, Doug Meyer (Pat), Rod Meyer (Diane), Craig Meyer (Lisa), Eric Meyer (Brenda), Tambry Brose (Dan); 18 grandchildren; as well as 33 great-grandchildren.

Cheryl’s celebration of life will be held at Good Shepherd Community Church on August 27, 2023, at 3:30 pm. 28986 SE Haley Rd, Boring, OR 97009.

In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to First Image, 1315 SE 20th St., Suite 2, Portland, OR 97214.
