Former Sandy resident, Bud Beam died on Thursday, June 25, 2009. He was 95.
A private family graveside service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Cloyed Beam was born on April 27, 1914 in Columbus, Ohio to Oliver and Essie (Strunk) Beam.
Bud was a WW II Veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1941 until 1945. Bud was united in marriage to Virginia “Ginny” Reynolds in August of 1941. They made their home in Astoria where Bud worked as meat cutter. They later moved to Seaside where they raised their family and owned and operated the Four Winds Motel until retiring.
In the late 1990’s, they moved to Sandy. During retirement they became “snowbirds” enjoying their summers in Oregon and winters in Mesa, Arizona. In April of 2001, Ginny preceded him in death. Bud remained in Sandy until 9 months ago when he moved to Gresham to be near his son and daughter in law.
Surviving are his sons, Roy Beam of California and Jim Beam of Portland; his sister Ruth of Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and one due in December. He is preceded in death by his son Ray Beam.
