Longtime Boring resident, Clyde Jennings died at his home on Saturday, January 22, 2011. He was 67.
A Funeral Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A committal service will follow at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
Clyde Mitchell Jennings was born on December 6, 1943 in Vancouver, Washington to William and Beede “Louise” (Funderburgh) Jennings. As a child, the family lived in Astoria and surrounding communities on the Oregon Coast where he was raised and received his schooling. As a teen, Clyde re-located and moved to Portland where he attended Lincoln High School. He later worked in the restaurant industry.
On May 31, 1962, Clyde was united in marriage to Twila Krebs in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Portland where he went to work at Huntington Rubber Mill, Raygo Wagner and Wagner Mining. In 1995, he was forced to retire as his health began to fail. Two years later, Clyde and Twila moved to Boring. In 1996, they moved to Central Oregon, making their home in Prineville. It was in 2006 that they returned to Boring where they made their permanent home.
Clyde was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping and fishing. He was a stamp collector, enjoyed watching golf on television, doing jig saw puzzles, tinkering in his garage and spending time at the Oregon Coast.
Clyde is survived by his wife Twila of 48 years; his son Bruce Jennings of and Velvet Cooley; his mother Louise Saint ; 4 grandchildren and 3 nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clyde Jennings Scholarship Fund c/o Immanuel Lutheran Church.
