Dale C. Quinn, a resident of Sandy since 1952, died of complications from pneumonia, Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Legacy Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sandy.
Dale was born in Firth, Idaho to Orely and Golda (Christensen) Quinn. He was raised and educated in Firth and graduated from high school in 1944. Quinn served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army.
On May 5, 1951, he married Darlene (Stoddard) Quinn and they settled on a farm in Sandy. Dale owned and operated Dale's Auto Parts in Sandy and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dale was a long-time member of Alcoholic Anonymous where he was able to offer encouragement and support to those struggling with the disease of alcoholism. Dale had a big heart and was known for his compassion and love of people. Many knew that stopping in at his store would bring laughter and comfort. He enjoyed associating with his AA friends, singing and listening to music, reading his home-town newspaper, working outdoors on his farm, and watching Blazer games. Dale had a great sense of humor and especially enjoyed hearing and telling jokes.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene, and an infant son, Randy Dale Quinn, a great grandson and two brothers.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Slaughter, of Sandy; sisters Dorothy Fielding of Nampa, ID, Betty Howser of Pinole, CA, Wallace Quinn of Sandy, OR and Gay Curbow of Idaho Falls, ID; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
