Welches resident, Dana N. Thornberg passed away eight days after her 92nd birthday and five days after her 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, January 8, 2017.
She was born, Dana Nielson on December 31, 1924 in Huntington, Utah to Guy Jens Nielson and Ruby Elizabeth (Johnson) Nielson.
Dana is survived by her husband Fred, son Guy (Susan), daughters Teresa Rush (Wayne) and Sydney Schoppert (Lyle), 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter Karla, sister Lois and brother Don.
When Dana and Fred were living in Utah, she was active in Real Estate and during WWII with the USO. To many of her children’s friends, she was respectfully known as “Momboas”. After moving to Hoodland in 1968, she was a member of the Hoodland Woman’s Club, The Lions Auxiliary and the Mountain Players. She was a wonderful lady, “best” of mothers and wife. Dana was a member of the LDS Church and a Christ loving modest, witty and unconditional loving person.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland at 12:00 noon. There will be a viewing at Sandy Funeral Home prior to the service starting at 9:00.
