Darlene “Dee” Bush, died at her family home at Boring on June 25, 2010. She was 62.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, July 10, at Sandy Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.
She was born Darlene Alice Schmale in Portland, Oregon on April 30, 1948. Dee was raised on her family’s farm at Boring where she grew up learning the basics of life ~ hard work on the farm, cooking, canning and making the best with what was available.
She attended Boring Grade School and graduated from Sandy High School in 1966. She then worked as a cook at the Boring School until enlisting in the in the U.S. Army. She served for one year and attained the rank of E-4.
After her discharge, she began her family, living in various areas on the west coast. Besides dedicating her time to raising her children, Dee worked as a cook, custodian and various other jobs. In 1996, she moved to Redmond and worked as a baker and dietary cook in LaPine and Bend. Recently, she returned to Boring after a lengthy illness.
She enjoyed cooking, canning, crafts, yard sales and was always look for a “good deal” in all of her purchases.
Surviving are her sons, Ronald Mosegard of Eugene and Troy Bush of Redmond; daughter, Kimberly Chambers of Portland; brothers, Stanley Schmale of Eagle Creek, Steven and Gary Schmale, both of Boring; and two grandchildren.
