Darrell Meyer died at Hopewell House in Portland on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the age of 61.
Darrell Alvin Meyer was born on March 9, 1950 in Portland to Lester and Esther (Sharer) Meyer. He was raised and received his schooling in the Gresham and Troutdale areas. Darrell worked various jobs throughout his life.
On May 28, 2005, he was married to Londa Thomas in Reno, Nevada. They made their home in White City, Oregon. In 2009, Darrell moved to Boring to be near his mother.
Darrell enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson with his dog Charlie, racing dirt bikes, watching and attending NASCAR races, drag races, attending car shows and restoring cars and boating. He was a “jack of all trades” guy and was talented in so many areas.
Darrell is survived by his wife Londa of Vancouver, Washington; his mother, Esther Meyer of Boring; his daughter, Dawn Meyer of Beaverton; his son, Cameron Meyer of Washington , D.C.; his sisters, Beverly Melton of Boring and Barbara Erazo of Salem and 3 grandchildren.
Sandy Funeral Home is handling the arrangements and a private memorial service will follow at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hopewell House or any No Kill Animal Shelter of your choice. The family greatly appreciates the love and kindness which Hopefully House gave to Darrell and their family. Darrell had a passion for animals and was a supporter of the No Kill Shelters.
