Sandy resident David Palmer died at his daughter’s home on December 22, 2009. He was 78.
A Graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
David Leon Palmer Sr. was born in Pocatello, Idaho on November 30, 1931 to Wilford and Emma (Thornton) Palmer. The family moved to Lakeview, Oregon where David was raised and received his schooling. As a young boy, he worked with his father in the woods.
On January 26, 1951, David entered the U.S. Army and obtained the rank for sergeant and was honorably discharged on April 9, 1954. He then moved to the Sandy/Boring areas where he married Margaret Brown and raised their four children. David was self employed in the logging industry.
In 1964, David married Faye Gregson. They lived in Boring where David pursued his career in the logging industry, also owing and operating a shake mill in Moclips, Washington. He also worked as a commercial fisherman, a mechanic and owned and operated a gas station.
In 1998, David retired from Warehauser in Elma, Washington. He remained in Elma until 2000, when he moved to Milwaukie where he resided until earlier this year when he moved to Sandy to live with his daughter as his health began to decline.
Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Spencer of Sandy, Judy Butler of Woodburn and Evelyn Kralman of Milwaukie; his sons, David Palmer Jr. of Woodland, Washington and Kelly Palmer of Vancouver, Washington; his sister Genevieve Anderson of Alaska and his brother, Boyd Palmer of Utah; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Faye, two sons, Patrick and Clyde and his daughter, Michelle.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Hood Hospice.
