Boring resident, Dennis Arthur Puddy died at his home Thursday, March 1, 2012. He was 73.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday March 9, 2012 at Sandy Funeral Home.
Dennis was born on January 16, 1939 in Hood River, Oregon to Warren and Vivian (Coons) Puddy. He was raised in various places around the State and received his high school education in Gold Beach.
In 1964, Dennis was united in marriage to Dee Ann Kidder in Portland. They made their home in Portland where they began their family and Dennis began his career with Multnomah County as a corrections officer. Dennis and Dee Ann were later divorced. After 20 years of service with Multnomah County, Dennis retired. Dennis enjoyed being around people so he spent the days after his retirement working at various jobs in the mountain area including Ace Hardware, Timberline Lodge and Mt. Hood RV Village. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Sandy.
In 1986, Dennis was married to Judy Johnson. They made their permanent home in Boring.
Dennis truly enjoyed the outdoors and spent a great deal of time camping, fishing, boating, mushroom hunting and swimming. He participated for 20 years in the Hood River Cross Channel swim. Dennis built his own cabin near Mt. St. Helen starting construction in the late 1980’s and he also enjoyed relaxing at his trailer over at Rockaway Beach. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and also enjoyed the local classic car club; Route 66.
Surivors include his daughters, Debbie Brannan of Hillsboro, Trisha Deaton and Cheri Mckenzie-Reynolds both of Kneeland, California; his sisters, Maryjo Landacre of Washington and Janet Six of Tennessee and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Dean in 1996 and his wife Judy in 2009.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mt. Hood Hospice or a Hospice of your choice.
