Gresham resident and former Sandy resident, Donald Lambert died suddenly on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Portland Adventist Medical Center. He was 86.
A memorial service will be held at Sandy Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. A private inurnment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery at a later date.
Donald Charles Lambert was born on June 24, 1924 in Portland to Ernest and Blanche (Fowler) Lambert. Don began his elementary education in Portland and as a young teen, the family moved to California where he finished his schooling.
In 1942 Don entered the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge in 1947 he lived in California where he worked for the railroad and State Highway Department. In the 1960’s Don owned and operated a semi-truck and did long hauling throughout the United States.
On November 20, 1976, Don was united in marriage to Helen Anderson in Vancouver, Washington. They made their home in Sandy for 20 years. During this time, Don was employed at Freightliner for a short time and then returned to truck driving until retiring. Prior to moving to Gresham 6 years ago, Don and Helen lived in Milwaukie with their son for a short time.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, baking, working word puzzles and was an extremely good nurse and caregiver to his wife. He was a lifetime member of the Sandy V.F. W. Post #4273.
Surviving is his wife Helen of Gresham; his son, Chris Lambert of California, his step sons, Dan and Troy Anderson both of Milwaukie; his daughter, Kathy Andena of California; his sisters, Dar Massa of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Jackey Warner of California and 3 grandchldren.
