Mr. Lindstedt died at his home on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the age of 82.
Donald Joseph Lindstedt was born on December 31, 1929 in Portland to Joseph and Lillie (Gran) Lindstedt. The family moved to the Damascus area where they made their home on a 40 acre farm where Don was raised. He attended Damascus Grade School and Gresham High School. Prior to getting married, he worked for Meier Dairy in Boring.
While Don was attending Gresham High School, he met his future wife Ann Otto. They were later married on June 9, 1950 in Gresham. Shortly after they were married, Don and Ann purchased a 40 acre farm next to Don’s parents in Damascus. Don continued his employment at Meier Dairy and helped his father farm. Don later began logging on their property and in the mid 1950’s he went to work at Reynold’s Aluminum. In 1962, the family moved to Yamhill where Don was employed on a dairy farm. A year and a half later, the family moved to the Gresham area where Don started his excavation business in 1963, Don Lindstedt Excavating and Trucking. While living in Gresham, Don built a home for his family.
It was in 1976, they moved to Sandy and made their permanent home on three acres. Don pursued his career and business until 2001 when he retired.
Don was a hard worker and a perfectionist. He took much pride in his business and thoroughly enjoyed what he did. Don enjoyed vacationing with his family. After he retired, he would find projects to keep him busy.
Surviving is his wife Ann; his daughter Becky McAnally-Polito; his son Mike Lindstedt all of Sandy; his brother, Steve Lindstedt of Damascas; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Bruce in 1980.
