Donald Russell Jones was born on November 1, 1941 in Portland to Russell and Vera Jones. He was raised in Gresham (Orient/Lusted area), where he attended Orient Grade and Middle School, and graduated from Sandy High School. Don was involved in the FFA at Sandy High and was FFA President.
He served his country in the United States Army, and also worked at Electronic Specialty, Oregon Bulb Farm, and PGE in Hydro Maintenance. Don married his wife Nancy on March 15, 1974 at the Sandy Baptist Church. He lived in Sandy for 45 years. Don raised pigs and worked in the strawberry fields on his parent’s farm as a kid. He retired from PGE in 2007. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, and being outdoors. He attended Lighthouse Community Church.
Don is survived by his sister, Peggy Barchus of Winlock, WA, children Jennifer Marty of Beaverton, Russ Jones of Portland, and Carol MacPherson of Weatherford, Texas, 10 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 3 step great grandchildren.
