Former Welches resident, Don Netherland passed away in Portland on Thursday, February 6, 2020. He was 88.
A Funeral Service will be held at Sandy Funeral Home on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Donald Winfred Netherland was born on February 20, 1931 in Port Arthur, Texas to Neal S. and Annie L. (Scarbrock) Netherland. Don was raised and received his schooling in Port Arthur and graduated from Jefferson High School. He served in U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
In 1984, Don married Charlene Kline and they lived in the areas of Portland, Gresham and Welches.
Don was an expert auto body man and specialized in restoring mustangs from the 1960’s. He and his wife enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling the Western States, buying cars and collectables and moving from place to place. Throughout their marriage, they moved 10 times. We now say…. “goodbye papa”, until we all see you again, you will always be with us.
Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, his children, Donna Gregg, Diana Netherland and Michael Kline; his grandchildren, Jessica, Trudy, Daniel, Juliann, Destiny and Cohen; his brother Herman. He is preceded in death by his brother Aubrey.
