Former Sandy resident Donna Bogart died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in West Linn at Rose Linn Care Center. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Mt. Hood Hospice, P.O. Box 1269 Sandy, OR 97055.
She was born, Donna Joann Swain, on May 13, 1939 to Joseph and Valeria Swain in Eugene, Oregon. When Donna was young, her family moved to Springfield where she was raised and went to school. In 1956 Donna married Bob Miller, they divorced three years later. After graduating from Springfield High School in 1958, Donna worked at a poultry plant in Eugene for 9 years.
In 1961 she met and later married Jerry Bogart. They lived in Springfield where she continued to work in the poultry plant until 1966 when they moved to Sandy to establish their permanent home. Donna worked as director of Valley Migrant League, responsible for getting kindergarten and daycares started in the Sandy area churches. In 1971 she began her career at the Sandy Post Office, where she worked until retiring in June of 1999. After retirement, Donna and Jerry enjoyed a second home in Arizona during the winter months.
As an artist, she enjoyed painting and sold many painted cross cut saws, clocks and various crafts at the Sandy Mountain Festival. Donna was a devoted mother who was actively involved in her 3 sons’ scouting and sport activities.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Bogart. Donna is survived by her 3 sons, Kelly Miller of Gresham, Mike Bogart of Lebanon and Greg Bogart of Sandy, sisters Barbara Walker of Eugene and Janice Miller of Springfield and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
