Sandy resident, Doris May Akin died at Avamere Assisted Living on Sunday, December 12, 2010.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday December 17, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the
Sandy Kingdom Hall.
Doris May Neal was born on February 19, 1922 to Thomas and Olga (Fihn) Neal in Mankato, Minnesota. She was raised in Portland, where she received her education graduating from Benson High School.
On Friday January 13, 1939, Doris married Martin Akin in Stevenson, Washington. They made their home in Portland, prior to moving to Welches, where they resided for over 40 years. In 1995 they moved to Boring. Martin preceded her in death in 1996. Doris remained in Boring until just recently, when she moved to Avamere.
Doris belonged to the Sandy Kingdom Hall, Sandy East Congregation. She was a faithful member of the congregation for over 50 years.
Doris was a housewife and a great cook. She enjoyed playing cards, was an avid outdoors woman who loved hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
Surviving is a daughter; Sherry Sebern of Sandy; two grandsons, Greg Akin of Sandy and Todd Johnson of San Diego, California; and one grand daughter, Marcy Comstock-Flood of Modesto, California.
