Gresham resident, Dorothy Carver, died at her home in Gresham on Christmas Day. She was 86.
A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 4, 2010 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
She was born Dorothy Marie Gumm on March 22, 1924 in Douglas, Wyoming to Clyde E. and Ruby V. (McMillian) Gumm. She lived on the family farm in Wyoming until she met her husband, Forrest Carver. They were married on August 28, 1945 in Vancouver, Washington. They made their home in Portland and began their family. Besides fulfilling her duties as a wife and mother, Dorothy worked as a waitress and then at Twin-City Bakery for over 6 years while her children were attending school.
Dorothy enjoyed her church where was a Sunday school teacher and enjoyed being involved with the youth. Although it wasn’t her favorite thing to do, she rode on the back of her husband’s motorcycle and they enjoyed their time together.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987 and sons, Rodney in 1964 and Gene in 2007. Surviving is her daughter, Wanda Warner and her husband, Paul; grandson, Jeremy Korhonen and his wife, Wendy; and 2 great grandchildren, Emma and Mason.
