Doug was raised in Sandy, Oregon where he graduated from Sandy Union High School in 1972. Doug enjoyed wrestling and was active in the Sandy FFA chapter. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1977 and was honorably discharged in 1980.
He worked in rock drilling, scrapping, and later became a truck driver in Alaska. Doug enjoyed his hauling career until his retirement in 2015. He moved home to Sandy to be closer to his mother and his sister, Debra.
Doug was active in the NRA, loved to farm, garden, fish, hunt, scuba dive, go to the gun range, mechanics, and watching country and old Western movies at home. One of the most touching things to Doug's heart was watching his nieces and nephews grow and start lives of their own. He was close to them and a big part of their lives.
Doug is survived by his brothers: Rodney (Karen) of Rainier, Oregon, and Warren (Aileen) of Homer, Alaska; nieces and nephews: Jaime, Bradly, Christine, Timothy, Charles, Jessica, Jacob, Maggie, and Zia; and several greats.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Malvin; and sister, Debra.
